The Virtual School of Engineering

The Virtual School of Engineering is an online engineering experience for Year 10 to 12 students in Queensland. It is an opportunity for schools to link with The University of Queensland and professional engineers. The VSE provides a variety of engineering problem solving experiences that a team of up to five students, along with a professional engineer or a University of Queensland postgraduate student mentor or academic, will solve a problem over a period of 11 weeks. These solutions will be presented as a web page which will be assessed by a panel of professional engineers and members of Engineers Australia.

Annotated Videos in an Interactive Web-based Course

This project aims at exploring the use of annotated videos of lectures and tutorials as an integral part of course material and delivery. The annotated videos can be embedded with other course material into a more general course framework. The question is how annotated videos can be naturally combined with other interactive technologies such as remote web-based experiments into a coherent, easy to navigate environment. A question on a different plan is how efficient this technology can be in delivery of engineering courses.
