A Radio Frequency (RF) coil is a crucial piece of hardware in a MRI system and is used for the transmission of RF energy to excite the magnetized protons. The reception of the MR signal is later digitalized to produce high quality MR images. MRI RF coils are generally classified into volumetric or phased array types of coils. Depending on the application (animal or human imaging), different RF coils will be utilised.

Our research group has expertise in designing, modelling and construction of MRI RF coils. The group employs advanced numerical softwares to aid in the design and modelling of various low to high field strength MRI RF coils, which can accurately predict the electromagnetic behaviours and performances of the coils. We also possess the latest RF equipment used for the construction of MRI RF coils. Many commercial and research centres from around the world seek our services to in constructing MRI RF coils to meet their specific needs.
