BACKGROUND
Organisational Environment
Situated within the Faculty of Engineering, Physical Sciences and Architecture, the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering is one of the premier research and teaching schools in Australia, with a strong, internationally recognised research base and a large postgraduate research school. Comprising around 70 academic staff, 30 general staff, more than 180 postgraduate research students and 1,400 equivalent full-time undergraduates, the School is closely linked with a number of research centres. These include the ARC Centre for Complex Systems, the Cooperative Research Centre for Enterprise Distributed Systems, the Cooperative Research Centre for Sensor Signal and Information Processing, the Software Verification Research Centre, the Advanced Computational Modelling Centre and the Key Centre for Human Factors & Applied Cognitive Psychology.
Research funding derives from both national and international competitive sources, and the School invests in supporting the development and maintenance of international links by its staff. The School manages several degree programs including electrical, computer, software and systems engineering, mechatronics, telecommunications, information technology, computer science and multimedia.
The School offers programs at the St Lucia and Ipswich campuses and occupies parts of several buildings. Its base is at St Lucia in the General Purpose South Building, where the incumbent of this position would be located.
