Welcome
to INFS1200/7900. This course will be your first introduction to
databases and information systems. As most of you will be aware,
computer based information systems are found all around us in almost
every domain. Correct database design, and effective data management
form to a large extent, the foundation for the success (or failure) of
an information system. The database community is very significant both

Oracle www.oracle.com
, DB2 (IBM) www.ibm.com/db2, SQLServer
(Microsoft) www.microsoft.com/sql
. This community is also privileged to have some of the top researchers and
scientists in computer science. You will find a database group in almost all
IT/CS schools in the top universities around the world. The Data and Knowledge Engineering Group at the School of ITEE conducts research and teaching in this area. The |
