Re: Re: [microblaze-uclinux] Hi Everyone! Im new, let me introduce myself...
Their kit allows you to put eCos2, RedBoot, or the Insight OS on the
ARM. Still, I like the idea of using the Xilinx with the
Microblazer running Clinux. It just seems too cool to pass up.
In any case, I contacted CharmedLabs and they are coming out with
a 150k gate version of the Xport (due at the end of the month for $195 -
includes the 16MB SDRam).
I also asked them if they have any quantity discount available (Im
pitching the idea to my classmates at school) and he said yes. So if
anyone is interested, let me know and Ill rally up a total and see how
much we can get it for.
Cheers!
Erich

think a XC2S50 may be too small if you want to put a complex MicroBlaze
design in it, but for something really simple it may fit. See Xilinx IP
size calculator (intended for Spartan 2E or 3, but you can compare with
S2 easily)

lite, a timer, and 32 bits GPIO will _not_ fit in a 50k gates FPGA (or
you have to remove something). Forget about PCI or Ethernet on this !

on the ARM and use this board only for extended IO and peripherals, then
you will have a lot of room in a XC2S50.

also have "provision for up to 32 Mbytes" of SDRAM.

and cassette deck as mass storage ... (and i'm not so old). There is a
Z80 soft-core clone on http://www.opencores.org/projects/t80/ and it
supports GameBoy instruciton set ;-)
