Re: [microblaze-uclinux] Problems with networking

Can you post the output of "ifconfig -a"

That proves kernel TCP/IP is working, but packets to local ip are routed
internally via the loopback driver.

On the lo interface? What about the eth0 interface?

What is the output from ping? You must use the standalone ping that is
under "network applications". For some reason, busybox ping doesn't
seem to work. I haven't spent time to find out why.

All looks reasonable - I specifcy a broadcast parameter to ifconfig as well:
broadcast 192.168.0.255
but i'm not certain it's essential.
Linux networking complies with some RFC that says "silently discard all
invalid packets". So, there are many places inside the tcp/ip code
where packets can be silently dropped. In debugging the network driver
I went through and put printk's in all of these, to see where my packets
where going.
Some obvious advice, make sure you are up to date with the CVS tree and
also the latest toolchain (see my web site).

I haven't found that necessary - microblaze1 lives happily on our
corporate LAN and is DNS enabled etc.. I can wget pages from out in the
big bad internet! :)

It all sounds reasonable so far. Attached is my linux latest kernel
configuration file, maybe it helps. This configuration is fully
supporting networking - boa, NFS, etc etc.
You should probably also disable the dcache, and enable icache. The
version of microblaze in EDK3.2 (and 6.1 pre SP1) contains a bug in the
dcache implementation. I think the fix is in the first service pack.

John
