that was one of our reason why we used mac/phy chip instead of emac.

that's one of our plans. we want to lower the bar for others who are:

- interested in software cpu, but
- not be able to/not interested in spending $$$$ for a board.

we'll ship our board with 300,000 or 400,000 gates for starters, which
enables to use webpack.  one might need to buy edk, but that's another
issue.
