[microblaze-uclinux] [Fwd: ERSA'04, CFP, Deadline Feb. 9, 2004]

Hi everyone,

Attached is a call for papers for ERSA 04 (Engineering of Reconfigurable
Systems and Algorithms). It's held in Las Vegas in late June. I went
last year, and found it to be interesting and valuable. I hope to be
able to attend this year as well.

The reason I'm spamming the list is to encourage participation from
Microblaze uClinux people in a special session on "Reconfigurable
System-On A Chip (SOC) Architectures", chaired by Mike Wirthin from
Brigham Young University. I have cc:d Mike on this message, so feel
free to contact him if you have any questions.

The session plan follows.

Regards,

John

Reconfigurable System-On A Chip (SOC) Architectures

There is growing interest in the use of application-specific processor
and system architectures within reconfigurable hardware. Significant
improvements in computational performance, efficiency, and power can
be achieved by specializing a processor or single-chip reconfigurable
system architecture to a narrow application domain. Further, the
software programmability of such a processor-based system allows the
architecture to solve problems that require 'software' control and
cannot be solved with a dedicated hardware solution. The purpose of
this session is to explore new and innovative techniques that exploit
the use of reconfigurable system-on a chip (SOC) architectures. The
topics of this session include the following:

- Reconfigurable processor architectures
- Novel reconfigurable SOC architectures
- Reconfigurable system interconnect/bus architectures
- Peripheral design and communication structures
- System configuration techniques
- Processor/system self-reconfiguration and dynamic modification
- Innovative applications exploiting soft/reconfigurable SOCs
- Operating system approaches for reconfigurable SOCs
- Reconfigurable multi-processor SOC architectures

Introduction
============

The recent years have shown a continuous interest in using reconfigurable
computing platform for the design of application-specific computer systems.
The advances in reconfigurable computing architecture, in algorithm
implementation methods, and in automatic mapping methods of algorithms into
hardware and processor spaces form together a new paradigm of computing and
programming that has often been called `Computing in Space and Time'.

This conference focuses on the different approaches in engineering of
reconfigurable systems and implementing of algorithms, including theory,
architecture, algorithms, design systems and applications that demonstrate
the benefits of reconfigurable computing.
