If you would habe a PERFECT C to RTL compiler, you would be busy
selling it, not developing web servers ;-)

I think you would be wasting an enormous amount of gates.
Imagine, how dense it is to use a CPU instead of a statemachine with
few million states ...
And then you still have DRAM controllers, Flash controllers, Drive 
controllers, or did you like to make EVERYTHING in there, including the
512 MByte of DRAM ?
