Hi john,

 Yes..I have verified that too..infact that was the first thing i did....took the same image..downloaded it onto the SDRAM directly using XMD...it boots as usual...so nothing wrong with the image as such...i mean..its not an image which does not boot or is corrupted...

 one interesting possibility suggested by a gentleman (offline) yesterday was it could be that the run time stack (used by)/(allocated to) the bootloader code(sitting in internal BRAM) could be overlapping or getting mixed up with the kernel image somewhere near the start of RAM..need to investigate that further...will post the results on the list if something significant comes out of that!!...your comments on this possibility are most welcome!!..

 meanwhile is it absolutely ruled out that xmd/mdm could be introducing a breakpoint for some reasons which is causing this problem?..

 please let me know if you suspect any such cause..
