[microblaze-uclinux] Regarding Icache and Dcache

Hi

Whenever I build uClinux using cache after supplying the values for cache base addr and cache size, and then do a 'save and exit',I see that the values are not saved.

 cache base addr : 0x80000000(i and d)
 cache size : 0x4000 (i and d)

i concluded this way because the next time i do 'make xconfig' the values are defaulted to 0.

i am doubtful now whether the cache is being used at all in the first place since the address and size parameters are not getting saved, atleast apparently..

any pointers to why this is happening?

i face a similar problem with the FLASH base address and size in (kernel config->MTD->mapping drivers for chip access) too...

moreover,in which file(kernel) must i modify cache parameters in case i want to change the defaults...right now it appears as though the values are hardcoded..

 also..is it possible(advisable) to use only a fraction of the cache available(say 1k i & d instead of the entire 16k(on our memec spartan 2 E board)?

  thanks for any help

Regards
