That's a challenge for this kind of design generally - a single error 
like that can be very difficult to find,  It's why I tend to build on 
existing, working platforms as much as possible.

The debug interface allows control and monitoring of the processor.  The 
FSL channel allows fast downloads into the processor's memory space. 
You can have debug without FSL, but not the other way around (I don't 
think).

If you have just 1 microblaze, and 1 MDM, in your system, you don't need 
to explicitly specify the debug link ports - the defaults are such that 
it will automatically connect. This is why you sometimes see the debug 
ports/signals listed, and sometimes not.
