In what respect is the VGA display being used with uCLinux? Just curious.

Hi folks,
I've released a new version of the ML401 uClinux reference platform -
available from the website.

The only change is that this platform de-rates the system clock to
66Mhz, instead of 100Mhz.
Why would anyone want to use this? It's all about timing. The reason
for the long synthesis times on the ml401_emb_ref platform from xilinx
(and my subsequent ml401_uclinux_ref) is that very agressive P&R options
are required for this system to meet timing at 100MHz. Dropping it back
to 66Mhz makes life a lot easier for the tools, resulting in much
shorter P&R and so on. The extra timing headroom also makes it much
easier to fiddle with the design and not break the timing constraints.
The only wrinkle I've seen so far is that the VGA display gets a littl!
e
bit
wobbly - I've got a fix in mind but haven't tried it yet.
Have fun,
John
