[microblaze-uclinux] Parallel-port wowes

I wish I had some solid advice for you.

Maybe you have some other application that is messing with the port?
Something with a license manager, scanning for dongles?

Can you update the BIOS?  (This can be risky, though.)

Try another PC?  Even an old one might be enough for downloads.

Maybe your cable or your parallel port is messed up.  Multi-IO
cards used to be plentiful, but now it is hard to find them, or
even to think of distinctive search keywords....

Not much good a P IV cable when I get the following error message:

Cable connection established.
ECP port test failed. Using download cable in compatibility mode.

I've already made my way through the internet looking for the answer,
but it seems pretty hopeless. Windows XP and my BIOS both recognize
that I have an ECP parallel port, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the
drivers.. nothing seems to work. Guess it wasn't meant to me.
