[microblaze-uclinux] Announcing PetaLogix

Hello everyone,

The MicroBlaze uClinux project has been running for the last 2 years out
of the Embedded Systems research group at The University of Queensland.
The widespread external uptake of the platform has been immensely
satisfying and also somewhat surprising. As a consequence of this,
there has emerged a demand for commercial services and support relating
to MicroBlaze and uClinux.

Accordingly, I'm happy to announce the creation of PetaLogix - Linux
Solutions for a Reconfigurable World. You can read about it here:

http://www.petalogix.com

Put simply, PetaLogix exists to fill the services and support gap beyond
that which can reasonably be provided for free.

What does this mean for you?

If you have the need, there are now professional commercial services
available. Perhaps you require something specific, or you need it Right
Now. Maybe you need to assure project managers that there is commercial
support available.

If you are happy with the way things are, then very little will change.
My hope is that the commercial activities of PetaLogix will actually
allow an improvement in the level of free services and support.

You may be concerned that the answer to every question on the list will
become "Get out your checkbook and ask PetaLogix". I assure you that is
not the case.

I will remain active on the list, as I hope will the others who are
helping out. Your involvement is tremendously appreciated, and the
community we have created here is fundamental to the current and
continued success of the project.

We will continue to work with the public source repositories, keeping
them up to date, and feeding bug fixes and improvements etc.

I remain a full time member of academic staff at the University.
PetaLogix is operating through UniQuest, the University's
commercialisation company, with the proceeds fed directly back to
support our research activities and to improve the services that
PetaLogix can provide.

That's enough for now - I'm happy to answer any questions you may have,
either here or privately. You can activate my commercial hat by
emailing john.williams@petalogix.com.

Finally, thanks to all of you for your involvement, no matter how small,
up to now and into the future. The intersection of embedded Linux and
Reconfigurable Computing is an exciting place to be.

Regards,

John
