Yes, that will cause a problem.   I had no idea you were so memory 
constrained.

You can squeeze a uclinux system into a 1MB - it's been done, and 
executing the kernel from flash can really help. But 512kb, I don't 
think it will work.

Are you using a commercial board?  Can you extend the memory maybe?
