[microblaze-uclinux] EDK 7.1 under cygwin

Hi,

I've just recently joined the mailing list, having chatted to John Williams.
I'm trying to work out how to install the microblaze (and powerpc) gnu
tools under cygwin. John has an entry on his web site about hacking
the files for cygwin. I had troubles with the script he listed, but 
eventually
got something to work, then I realized my version of EDK is a little 
different
to John's as I could not find any references to the xygwinl.dll or 
cygwinl.dll
in the executables or DLLs anyway.

The executables seem to work under cygwin, but I need to set up the tools
in the appropriate directories under cygwin with the right paths and so on.
I had the idea that some GNU tools used the machine architecture, operating
system and so on to navigate a directory hierarchy, at least that is what it
seems in the libexec directory.

I know this might be a bit off topic for the microblaze, but I'm trying 
to implement
the Montavista Linux for the PowerPC as per an Xfest lab I did in 2005.
The lab boots the Linux kernel over the network using a boot loader.
I assume that the uCLinux on the Microblaze does the same thing.
The Lab was done on Redhat Enterprise 3.0 Linux, but I'm trying to get the
thing running under cygwin and windows. I'm not sure if I can boot a 
Linux image
over the network under Cygwin.

I'd be curious if other people are doing similar things. I am using the 
Memec Design
V4FX12LC board. I also have a Spartan 3e starter board, Spartan 3 
starter board
and Tony Burch's B5-X300 board.

I've been a bit slow on the uptake of EDK, so I'm just in the process of 
learning
how to interface peripherals to the OPB and PLB buses. I would like to 
do some
image processing on the Spartan 3E starter board. I have bought the VDEC1
digitizer from Digilent. I thought I'd be up for designing a DDR SDRAM 
controller
and cache controller for it, but I may be able to use the EDK with 
multimaster DMA.
