The C libraries used in the standalone mb-gcc is newlib, a reduced footprint, embedded-targetted version. The patch you referred to was for uClibc. So, while the general implementation would probably be relevant, it would not be a matter of Xilinx simply applying that patch to their toolchain sources.

So, we're both sort of half right.
