Re: [microblaze-uclinux] Microblaze uClinux 2.6.11
Antti,
Are you trying to bait someone at Xilinx into doing official support?
Maybe John has some numbers about subscribers on this list. The only
way a company would respond is if they believe it is worth $$$.

Hi
I know that all the Microblaze-uClinux porting is done by people only from
enthusiasim (eg not funded) so there is nothing to expect. That is of course
rather bad situation for Xilinx fans - NIOS2 uclinux is supported by an real
company (Microtronix) who has made all the work to get uClinux 2.6.11 to
work on NIOS2.
It makes me envy to see that Altera/NIOS2 users can use uClinux 2.6.11
because of the effort of Microtronix, but Xilinx/Microblaze users are pretty
much forced to use 2.4.32 uClinux because there is nobody commercially
interested in linux 2.6 Microblaze support.
Sad story. There are many drivers that are available for 2.6 but not for 2.4
or have issues or need more work. Having MicroBlaze uClinux 2.6 support
would save tons of my time (that I spend with 2.4 compatible driver
porting). Of course one solution would be to switch to Altera - but for most
of the projects its really not possible. Still the availability of uClinux
2.6.11 for NIOS2 is a big BIG +point for Altera!
