Re: [microblaze-uclinux] Fwd: Troubleshooting installation of ICAP drivers

Thank you for your help, I think I'm back on track now. I was under
the impression that the ICAP drivers were already part of the uClinux
distribution and the patch altered the drivers. I now understand that
the patch only alters one file and adds a handful of new files.

patch -p0 < icap.diff (this did the trick)

Although the CentOS distrubution (from XAPP730) has a uClinux
distribution/kernel installed, you still need to follow the steps the
Petalogix website to install the MicroBlaze GCC toolchain before
kernel will successfully compile. It can be found here:

http://www.petalogix.com/resources/downloads/mb-gcc

I hope this is helpful for anyone trying to using this application note.

Thanks,

David

The ICAP driver should be in the uClinux sources, although I'm not sure
when Xilinx's snapshot was taken to generate the VMWare images.

A couple of things - you want to use the --dry-run option to patch first
time through - as the name suggests it doesn't actually change anything,
just tests the water.

Also ,you will probably want -p0, so

patch -p0 --dry-run < icap.diff

from uClinux-2.4.x directory is probably the way to go.

Once it looks clean, then do it again without --dry-run.

John
