Re: [microblaze-uclinux] Downloding image file
Venkatesha,
I've been able to get uClinux to boot on the XUP2VP when I use the
version of the uClinux distribution and kernel in XAPP 934 and 730 and
*do not* update with CVS. Just add the Petalogix mb-gcc toolchain or
use the one already installed under
/home/devel/uclinux/bin/mb-tools/bin. Whichever you use, you will
need to add it to your path.
I'm using EDK 8.1.02 so John Williams' XUPV2P reference design
(uclinux-xup2p_rev_1_2.zip) was an easy starting point. This file
used to be available on the Digilent website, but for some reason they
have reverted back to version 1_1 which was designed for 7.1. Since
I'm not sure about copyright restrictions, I won't post it here.
Perhaps John could add the latest version to the Petalogix website.
To make sure you tools chain is set up correctly (and methodology), I
suggest taking the auto-config.in and download_bootloop.bit files from
the zip and running them through the make xconfig; make dep; make
process. You should get a image.bin file that works.
Occasionally, my uClinux bootup will freeze at the SystemAce drivers,
but I can get it to continue by removing the card then reinserting it.
(Disclaimer: I'm not sure if this could damage the board or card).
I hope this helps,
David

Any changes that should be done to the project....

Unfortunately, I'm only slightly ahead of you. I'm actually having a
very simular problem.

Did you load the image at address 0x000000000 or something else like
x30000000? I get the a simular message, but my PC is much further
from my starting point. I actually see uClinux booting up until it
tries to 'Freeing init memory' when it freezes and XMD gives me this
message.

I'm using EDK 8.1 SP2 in MBv 4.something. I don't know if 5.00c is
supported but I'm sure John Williams could answer this question.
You may want to repost you message to the entire group.
Sorry if I wasn't much help,
David
