I'll ask the silly question first - are you runnign a DHCP server somewhere on the network, and is it configured corectly to offer an IP address to the microblaze?
If that's a yes, then try running tcpdump on a PC host on the networkm, make sure the microblaze is sending out the DHCP requests etc.
If you statically assign an IP address with ifconfig after boot (kill DHCPD first), does networking all work asexpected?
