Automatic creation of JFFS2 root filesystems is not supported - only
CRAMFS or ROMFS. This is the option you have selected in the
user/vendor config -> system settings menu. You can use JFFS2 as a
secondary file system, jsut enable it in the kernel, use a ROMFS or
CRAMFS root as per usual, then create the JFFS2 file system after bootup.
