Re: [microblaze-uclinux] Userland support for 2.6.30

Steven

what kind of "userland" are you looking for. I have been working heavily recently with apps defined in the ./petalinux-dist/user and ./petalinux/lib directories. To date the following new apps are working:

OpenVPN(user: static key only)
OpenSSL(user)
IPRoute2(user)
MPLS-Linux(subsystem to IPRoute2)
XML2(lib: but not really tested)
Sofia-Sip(lib)

BUT! note two things, one is all this is still within kernel 2.6.20, I tried getting a 2.6.30 (or what I thought was it) and it would not compile. AND! most of the building is still manual. Each of these have such uniquely defined configure files that generated Makefile require some manual intervention so they will cross-compile. I'm trying to fix this problem but its been one heck of a challenge.

I understand that completing the 2.6.30 kernel merge is PetaLogix's #1 priority at the moment, but I'm wondering what kind of userland infrastructure is being used to exercise the changes. Could this be made available to the community, even as an unsupported "caveat emptor" set of code? The more code I modify, the harder I think it will be to bring the new kernel up on my board. Conversely, the more people that work with the new kernel, the more issues will be found and resolved.

Just a thought.
