Re: [microblaze-uclinux] fsboot problem

Hi,

Is there anybody who has used UART-DTE Spartan3E500E Starter Board ?....Please, here below is my problem, I 'am following some tutorials and they all take me to Uart-DTE serial connection to PC-serial port. But there is no "words" on my serial console...if anyone have some secret, I'm doing what there is below, but no getting words. I mean. the first step, only edk reference step, is not giving me fsboot answer, so no posibility to cat /tftboot/u-boot.srec > /dev/ttyS0...
Regards Orlando.

Subject: [microblaze-uclinux] fsboot problem

Hello, if anyone have seen this kind of problem......

I compiled successfully my images, the problem is when I want to boot on my Spartan3E Starter board.

-The problem is on the reference Xilinx Spartan3E_10.1_lite. But I really don't know what happen, 'cos everything seems to be alright.

-I have last EDK SP3 installed, on ubuntu 9. My EDK works very good, (I have tested on my own embedded project...)

-I open my Xilinx Spartan3E_10.1_lite reference system.xmp, then EDK asks me to upgrade the project, then I choose NO.

-I make netlist, libraries, bitstring, the .elf and lik, I build my "fsboot" software project with "MARK INIT_BRAM", the rest software projects have not selected "MARK BRAM". I download bitstring to the Board...

-I have tested my serial cable, I have tested my CPU serial port with a router, so it works good.

-I have tested with windows hyperterminal and linux minicom, configuring it on " 8 bit data, parity even, no hardware or software error detection, 1 stop bit, and 115200 bit speed.

-Because this is my first job on petalinux, maybe I have 'nt take care about some kind of stuff, that is why I'm describing all this.

-Reviewing some Petaliniux tutorial and docs, everybody tells when I download the bitstring by my jtag usb cable into the Board, some "fsboot ...." words appears on the serial console, then I have to put "s" to call U-boot, and cat /tftboot/u-boot.srec > /dev/ttyS0 (this is my serial port).

-Well, when I download the jtag bit string, no word appears on my serial console. I do'nt know if I have to put some command on the console, or just wait for a text. I want to say, that I know it is my first job, so my project is basic, taken from the given reference, not modification at all...

-I put command cat /tftboot/u-boot.srec > /dev/ttyS0, I noticed that is takes a while, regarding that I put /tftboot/u-boot.srec > /dev/ttyS1 too (I do not use ttyS1), and it goes quikly, so it would say that something is happening on my serial ttyS0. But no word appears on my hyperterminal or on my minicom...

-When I download the bitstring, I do know it is programed with soemthing, because I have the board always with some LED on, to test if the board have programmed with the bitstring, the LED turn off..

-I really dont know, my images are wating for being dowloading, the problem is with my fsboot. (I do know the sources and headers are OK for fsboot software project)

-Note that I use the UART serial DTE port on my board for my own VHDL application, so it works good too....

-Please, maybe you have some skill that you tell me, why I have not the fsboot words asking me to boot, if I choose the basic reference....

-Help me please if you have on idea. of what it is happening to me.

Thaks and sorry for being so long, just I wanted to be clear, to save time...

Regards orlando.
