[microblaze-uclinux] PetaLinux 1.1 technology teaser
Hi folks,
We've uploaded a short video showing off the new petalinux-qemu-boot
command, featured in the forthcoming PetaLinux v1.1 release:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3cC44OPZ1M
MicroBlaze/QEMU on a reasonable PC actually runs faster than real
hardware - the video is real time but actually a bit slower than usual
because my workstation was simultaneously recording the screencast and
doing a synthesis run in the background!
The simulation model is completely driven by the device tree structure
(DTS) created during the BSP generation phase - this is a first for
QEMU on any architecture as far as I am aware.
We've also completely wrapped the somewhat painful process of QEMU
virtual networking so that with a single command
$ petalinux-qemu-boot
your most recent PetaLinux image will just boot inside QEMU, with full
virtual network setup, including a DHCP server on the virtual
interface, and bridging across to your desktop network connection.
Enjoy.
