[partial-reconfig] First post
Hi folks,
First post to the list - pretty lonely here for now, so don't be afraid
to spread the word! People can subscribe by sending an email to
majordomo@itee.uq.edu.au with the *body text*
"subscribe partial-reconfig".
You can post by emailing to partial-reconfig@itee.uq.edu.au
Why I'm doing this: I work in the Embedded Systems Group at the Uni of
Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. One of our themes is reconfigurable
computing, and for the last 12 months I've been developing our Egret
platform for reconfigurable SoC research and design.
Egret runs uClinux on the Xilinx microblaze processor, and I'm
interested in partial reconfig for things like dynamically loadable
peripherals and modules - analogous to loadable kernel modules (like
device drivers) in Linux.
More info microblaze and uClinux at:

Anyway at the moment I'm just trying to build microblaze systems in the
partial reconfiguration flow - I've had some small successes, but am
already hitting the bizarre and unexplained tool behaviours that go with
this.
I'm hoping this list will (eventually):
(1) provide a venue for us to rant about the tools :-)
(2) become a resource for people working in this area
(3) help to identify and isolate issues, to pass on to the relevant
people at Xilinx. They are interested, and will listen if we work
constructively with them.
(4) Did I mention ranting about the tools? ;-)
Cheers,
John
