Thanks for your reply Jens, you have achieved exactly what I wanted to. 
I think some additional study of XDL is required as I am obviously 
missing something. Either that or the Spartan 2 does not allow the 
output of more than 2 TBUFs to be linked and the virtex does (I think 
this is unlikely however!). Do you know of any good XDL reference?
