[partial-reconfig] Global communication problem

Hi everyone:

I’m preparing on building a quite large system on xc2v4000. I’m going to have an on-chip-network connecting one static MicroBlaze, which controls the ICAP, and several (up to 4) reconfigurable co-processors. The NoC will probably expand across the width of the whole FPGA. I’m just not sure what will happen to the NoC if a reconfigurable unit is under reconfiguration. Even if I don’t change anything to the NoC before and after the reconfiguration, but during the reconfiguration, the part of the NoC that goes thru the module under reconfiguration process will be temporarily disabled, is that right?

The easiest solution is to disable the communication during the reconfiguration, which can be painfully expansive in term of time. I don’t know if there exist any solutions except for the external NoC off-chip which probably need another FPGA. So, if anyone knows about this, could you point me to a certain paper or something?

Thank in advance.

BR
