s easy to make your own system for running MicroBlaze uClinux - as long 
as there are EDK BSB board descrption files for the ML310 (I'm pretty 
sure there are).

Follow these instructions - aimed at ML401 but same concept.

Yes, it can be done - I did some simple experiments in this last year,
