Thanks for your reply...

I tried the move command... it said "the system can't find the specified
file" when I simply used <filename>... I had to use .ncd with it, i.e.
move <filename.ncd> <filename.ncd>, or move <filename.ncd>
<newfilename.ncd>, plus I tried moving it to another folder... no use...
it still throws up the same thing, with the same FPGA Editor icon and
the same FPGA Editor Document file type...

Conversion back to xdl works fine... 

I'm thinking of installing ISE on my other computer... when this thing
happens on that one, I'll have to reinstall the OS I guess... a pain in
the neck, yes, but that seems to be the only option left...
