SMART VOICEMAIL TELEPHONE using PLAN9 and INFERNO By Leonard Scuderi |
First Aim:
To get a telephone voice mail system working between 2 computers with an Ethernet link. One system will be running plan 9, while the other will be running Inferno on top of Windows 95. Inferno will be used to control the telephone via a phone net card by creative labs. The telephone would be a tone phone; therefore decoding of the buttons pressed would also be required.
Long term Aim:
To place this system on to the Internet, to make everyday phone calls. The system can make phone calls and charge them to your visa card. It will look for the cheapest method of making phone calls with out the user even knowing.
Features:
There will be many function that the voice mail system can have. Essentially for demo day, a user will log in send a message to another user. The second user can log in check his voice mail, reply to messages, and so on. A broadcast feature would be possible to implement, and security of voice mail on the system. Security would also need to be implementd.
Requirements:
Computer 1: Inferno - Controller
Inferno will be running on top of win95. |
Computer 2: Plan 9 - File System
Plan 9 Will boot of dos partition. |
