This year's MobiDE workshop is a special one, it is the tenth of a successful series of workshops that aims to act as a bridge between the data management, wireless networking, and mobile computing communities.

The first four MobiDE workshops were held together with MobiCom and SIGMOD, alternatively every second year: the 1st MobiDE took place in Seattle (August 1999), in conjunction with MobiCom 1999; the 2nd MobiDE took place in Santa Barbara (May 2001), together with SIGMOD 2001; the 3rd MobiDE  took place in San Diego (September 2003), together with MobiCom 2003; the 4th MobiDE  was held in Baltimore (June 2005) with SIGMOD 2005.  2006, the 5th MobiDE workshop was organized in Chicago (June 2006).  In 2006, MobiDE  became an annual workshop, held together with the SIGMOD conference: the 6th MobiDE workshop was held in Beijing, China (June 2007);  the 7th MobiDE workshop was held in Vancouver, Canada in June 2008; the 8th MobiDE was held in Providence, Rhode Island in June 2009, and the 9th MobiDE was held in Indianapolis, Indiana (June 2010).

This year, MobiDE 2011 is sponsored by ACM SIGMOD and held in co-operation with ACM SIGMOBILE.
