The design of broadcast television studios and control rooms

Speaker: David Gilbert, IE/ITEE

When: 2003-09-10 15:00:00

Venue: 78-420

Host: Storm Griffin

Abstract:

Most broadcast television studios and control rooms are designed by
broadcast engineers who in fact never have to work in the spaces
they create. Having spent several years working in such areas David
Gilbert decided to apply his day to day experience as deep
background for his research towards his undergraduate thesis.

The result was awarded the Byrne and Davidson Award and was
ultimately published by the Australian Film and Television
School. It also led to his eventual apppointment to ABC TV as its
chief architect.

This talk discusses the relevance of the research within the realm
of Information Environments.
