The Three Pillars of Academia, a Perspective

Abstract:

It is the authorùs perception that the three aspects to being a
lecturer are teaching, research, and community service. This seminar
would address the authorùs stance with respect to these aspects in
terms of teaching philosophy, research plan, and community
participation. In particular the author will: present his approach
to undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision; outline his
current research focus and how it fits together with the short and
longer term research picture; finally he will share his views on the
means and merits of engaging the academic and wider community as a
lecturer.

Biography:

Dr Nguyen, Duy Huu Manh is currently a lecturer at Murdoch
University. Previously he was a postdoctoral fellow at The Hong Kong
Polytechnic University, and a professional engineer with Clough
Engineering. He obtained his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with
Honours from the University of Western Australia, and his Doctor of
Philosophy with Distinction from the same university.
