Speaker: Ben Appelton, Google Australia

When: 2007-03-19 14:00:00

Venue: 50-N201 (Hawken)

Host: Prof Paul Bailes

Abstract:

Google will be oncampus at the University of Queensland on Monday
19th March. Come meet Google's Sydney Engineers and find out:

- How does Google deal with massive amounts of data?
- What cool applications can Google build with that data?
- What does Google's Sydney Engineering Centre do?
(and is it true there's free food)

In this talk, Google will answer these and other technical questions
and offer a glimpse of Google behind the scenes. Join them to find
out how Googlers work, play and change the world.

Biography:

Ben is an alumnus of the University of Queensland
where he obtained a B.Eng (Hons, University Medal) in Electrical
Engineering, a B.Sc in Mathematics and subsequently a Doctorate of
Philosophy (Image Analysis) in 2005. Ben joined Google in 2005 and
has been working since on a number of projects, including Google
Maps and other yet-to-be released initiatives.
