Researcher biography
Dr. Ash (Afshin) Rahimi is a lecturer at the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, University of Queensland. He received his B.S. degree in computer science (2006) and M.S. degree in computational linguistics (2013) both from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. He worked in industry between 2006 and 2010. He achieved his PhD from The University of Melbourne (2018) focusing on social media user geolocation, and then worked as a research fellow on NLP for low-resource languages and medical literature. He regularly publishes his research results in top NLP conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, and NAACL (gScholar).
