Most students from the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, both undergraduate and postgraduate, will undertake an individual capstone thesis course in the final year of their program (degree).

Library workshops

At the start of each thesis course, UQ Library workshops are organised to help you with the preparation of your Annotated Bibliography and Project Proposals.

These workshops provide relevant literature for your annotated bibliography and project proposal including background materials, latest research and specialised information.

These workshops are announced on Blackboard.

Workshops cover:

  • Search strategies - how to prepare, plan and conduct searches efficiently
  • Library guides - including thesis project guide
  • UQ Library Search - finding books, articles, conference papers and theses
  • Databases - demos of IEEE Xplore and ACM Digital Library to find peer-reviewed publications
  • Google Scholar - setting up link to UQ Library publications and advanced search options
  • IEEE Reference Guide – overview of citing sources

Upcoming events

There are two workshop options available to students - Monday 28 February or Wednesday 9 March. The content will be the same in each workshop, so you only need to attend one session.
