Many students from the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, both undergraduate and postgraduate, will undertake an individual capstone thesis course in the final year of their program (degree).

Library workshops
At the start of each thesis course, a UQ Library workshop is organised to help you with the preparation of your Annotated Bibliography and Project Proposals.
The workshop will provide relevant literature for your annotated bibliography and project proposal including background materials, latest research and specialised information.
The workshop will be announced on Blackboard.
The workshop will cover:
- Search strategies - how to prepare, plan and conduct searches efficiently
- Library guides - including thesis project guide
- UQ Library Search - finding books, articles, conference papers and theses
- Databases - demos of IEEE Xplore and ACM Digital Library to find peer-reviewed publications
- Google Scholar - setting up link to UQ Library publications and advanced search options
- IEEE Reference Guide – overview of citing sources
